Monument to Remembering
David Crunelle
Belgium
The monument, despite its historical and symbolic importance, has faded from the gaze of the inhabitants of Birr by the use of their daily routes. An invisible presence that needs to come back to life in the hearts of the residents. To do this, I used an old Irish tradition, the quilt, in a gradation of colors and textures, volumes and visual effects in order to refocus the monument in the center of the attention it deserves. May this visual slap help the inhabitants to rediscover what belongs to them, their history, and their symbols.
David Crunelle is a multidisciplinary artist from Brussels, Belgium, mainly developing his work in visual art, photography and graphic design.
He has been teaching visual communication and photography in higher education for nearly 10 years. He works as art director in a communication agency and he is also a stock photographer for Getty.
